Volunteering is a great way to become more involved in your local community and to gain new skills. Many people have made a valuable contribution to our work by giving up their time. If you live or work locally and would like to spend time volunteering or gaining work experience, there are a number of ways you can get involved at the Centre.
East Xchange is a skills swap project that links people’s needs and others’ skills through a mutual exchange. For every hour you spend helping someone, you will get an hour of help in return. Skills that are exchanged can be anything, but might include gardening, shopping, companionship, cooking classes, DIY or teaching English. Find out more here.
Para-Legacy Agents are volunteers who inspire and support people with disabilities and long term health conditions to participate in sport. The programme promotes healthy living and aims to reduce social isolation through physical activity. We help people to develop their knowledge and confidence through an interactive and fun, community-based, accredited training programme. Anyone over the age of 16 can become a Para-Legacy Agent. Find out more here.
