We were excited to unveil outline plans for our new building project at our Summer Fair in June. Local people were eager to see the scaled models and pictures of what the new building would look like and share their ideas of how to create new spaces to inspire.

Our Rose - 100 years young!
Rose Daley, the oldest user of the Bromley by Bow Centre, was 100 years old on June 27th.
Young people create their first magazine
Young people living in Bromley by Bow have led a project to create a lively magazine that looks at how young people and adults in their community see one another. The group (aged between 13 and 19 years) conducted a series of interviews in the community to look at the stereotypes we hold and find ways of improving relationships.
Putting Patients First
The Bromley by Bow Centre was delighted to welcome the new Secretary of State for Health, Andrew Lansley, this week. During the visit he made his first major speech as Health Secretary focusing on a personal pledge to put his heart and soul into making patients the driving force of improvements in health and social care services.
ASICS British 10K places up for grabs
We are entering a charity team into the 2010 ASICS British 10k London Run and we are looking for enthusiastic runners to take part and fundraise for the Centre. The race takes place on 11th July and follows one of the world’s greatest race routes through the heart of London passing many of the world’s most famous and iconic landmarks including St James’s Palace, St Paul’s Cathedral, Big Ben and the London Eye.
Runners complete the Brighton Marathon and raise more than £20,400!
On Sunday 18th April a team of brave and strong minded runners took on the ultimate challenge of running 26.2 miles in aid of the Bromley by Bow Centre. The warm weather made a great day for spectating but a really tough day to run. The determination and spirit shown by our runners was inspiring. The runners were helped along by the cheers of friend, family and staff and volunteers from the Centre who now have renewed admiration for the impressive physical and mental endurance that our runner displayed on the big day!
A new community partnership with the Olympics
Bromley by Bow Centre and Leaside Regeneration have teamed up to offer tours of the new View Tube and Community Centre at the main Olympics site at Stratford, combined with a tour of the site and ground-breaking work in the community at the Bromley by Bow Centre.
The East London Bond, creating a real legacy for East London
We are inviting our supporters to join other high profile companies including Wates Group Ltd, Apax Foundation, Vitabiotics and Winterflood Securities to invest in the East London Bond which will transform lives by creating a sustainable legacy in East London. To date, with their generous support and others, £1.6m has been pledged to the Bond but there's further to go.

Last Thursday we were honoured to welcome the Prime Minister, Gordon Brown, and his wife Sarah to the Bromley by Bow Centre. It was an unexpected visit that very few staff knew about until the car pulled up outside the health centre gates!
Ex professional rugby player goes the extra mile
Ex London Welsh rugby player Tom Audley is swapping scrums, mouth guards and drop kicks for a punishing 26 mile run through London to raise funds for the Centre.
East London Bond
The East London Bond has opened for investment, with a cast of prominent supporters and over £1.3 million already pledged. We are inviting our supporters to buy a secure five-year bond, administered by Citylife, and to receive the money back in full in five years time. In the meantime, your money will be put to good use, funding Bromley by Bow Centre and Community Links to create a long-term legacy in East London and create change for generations to come.
The Bangladesh Project
The Bangladesh Project moved into its next phase in January, when a team from Bromley by Bow enabled a Health Camp to be run in Juri, rural Bangladesh. Dr Julia, Senior Practise Nurse Yvonne (with her daughter Ellie) and Jubeda from the Health Trainers joined Lilu Ahmed and Rev. Helen to attend the event.
Our Brighton Marathon runners step up the tempo
Seven of our brave Brighton Marathon runners came visited the Centre last week and see the difference their fundraising will make. During their visit the runners visited some of the Centre's projects and spoke with project managers about the impact these project have on our community. In Community Care the runners were shown some of their creative projects including a stylishly decorated dolls house and during their visit to the PoLLeN barn they heard about horticulture therapy from the project's members.
