Rob Trimble, Chief Executive of the Bromley by Bow Centre, won the Marks & Spencer Sieff Award at the Business in the Community Awards for Excellence 2008.

He received the Marks and Spencer Sieff Award at a celebration evening, hosted by Business in the Community at London’s Hackney Empire on Wednesday 18 June.

Describing Rob as an “exceptional leader”, Business in the Community gave him the award for “developing the Bromley by Bow Centre as a national exemplar of ethical business, running innovative activity including a hub to support the development of social enterprises.”

Paul Buchanan, London Regional Director of Business in the Community, added: "Rob thoroughly deserves this award. The Bromley by Bow Centre is the most amazing community regeneration project imaginable - I recommend everyone to visit it. Rob leads the team there with energy, vision, humility and humour. It's people like Rob who change the world."

Rob said, "This is a real honour for me and for the Bromley by Bow Centre. It's recognition of a real team effort and a lot of hard work and creativity.”

The award follows some exciting projects that the Centre has delivered over the past 12 months. Business in the Community helped to bring about a key strategic partnership between the Bromley by Bow Centre and Bank of America, and also organised a “Seeing is Believing” visit of business leaders to the Centre in November 2007.

The Centre has also developed its strategic partnership with GSL, who provide management support and work with us on a range of key projects.
