Bromley by Bow is the latest hot holiday destination

gardening gloves17 July 2008

Summer holidays normally conjure up thoughts of lying on the beach. Graham McKee, though, has got other plans - he's booked a week off work in August in order to volunteer with Green Dreams, a social enterprise at the Bromley by Bow Centre.

Graham works as a trader for Investec, a key corporate partner of the Bromley by Bow Centre, and was motivated to spend a week working with our team. Graham will be helping the team to start work on a new nature garden for a local primary school, as well as getting stuck in with summer maintenance work at schools across the borough.

Graham has asked his colleagues to sponsor him the cost of a shovel, wheelbarrow or a massage to recover at the end of the week.

The volunteering is part of a wider effort which will see up to 70 Investec staff rolling up their sleeves to volunteer with Green Dreams in the borough of Tower Hamlets in August and September. The Investec team have taken to the challenge with enthusiasm, and are looking forward to doing something a little different from their normal day jobs. All Investec staff get paid time off each year to volunteer.

You can keep track of Graham's progress or offer him your support on his justgiving page.
