The young people, Shakir, Paul, Jessica, Jenny and Pretti have been engaged in planning and researching the trip for the last few months. They have been long standing members of the Signs Of Life group and were picked for their hard work, talent and dedication to Signs Of Life. Frank Creber and Maria Alvarez are accompanying them on their 12 day visit to Esteli in Nicaragua.
They are visiting an organisation called Funarte which was set up in 1987 by our very own Service Delivery Director Dan Hopewell along with artists Janet Pavone and Anabell Garcia. Some of you will know Janet from her work at the Centre in the past few months. Whilst the group is in Esteli they will take part in painting a mural to learn about the different techniques, methods and content that Funarte use to produce murals.
The group will document the trip and bring back their knowledge and experiences to share with other members of Signs Of Life, who will then prepare workshops and take what has been learnt out to three schools in neighbouring boroughs.
