20 April 2009
A group of teenage parents and mothers-to-be from across Tower Hamlets are launching an exhibition of their own fashion and photography at Rich Mix, East London.
Challenging the labels that society gives teenage parents, these young women have produced a showcase that explores the concept of “identity”. The exhibition has required months of hard work and creativity, and will run for one week from 29th April.
The launch event will be held on 29th April, from 1-3pm.
"Don't Judge Me" is a project organised by Toynbee Hall, working in collaboration with the Bromley by Bow Centre and supported by a number of other organisations. Portraits were taken by fashion photographer Michael Wayne Plant.
The Bromley by Bow Centre has been running a very successful project for teenage parents from across Tower Hamlets, giving them support, advice and companionship, and helping them give their baby the best possible start in life. The Children's Centre also provides easy access to all our other services, from welfare to learning and employment.
