“Streets and Strings” comes to the Bromley by Bow Centre

The Centre are delighted to be hosting the Water City Arts Festival this autumn. The festival titled “Streets and Strings” is taking place on Thursday 15th October and will involve a diverse and exciting visual and musical arts programme.

The Water City Arts Festival aims to raise aspirations of young people whilst linking local people to the changing landscape of East London. The exhibitions and performances have been developed with local schools, community groups and professional artists and explore a number of topics relevant to the lives of our community including knife crime and chronic health issues.

Some of the exciting Water City Arts Festival events...

  • Trinity College of Music String Ensembles and the Central Foundation Girls’ School will be performing an imaginative contemporary music programme in the Church. The 15 piece band will be conducted by Nic Pendlebury with Roberto Iannandrea and Michael Bochmann.
  • Your Blood 2, a short animation film made with local patients about vitamin D deficiency will be screened. A project generously funded by Pfizer. 
  • Blame, an anti-knife crime short film staring Tod Carty will be screened, followed by a Q&A session with the director Kile Onile-ere.
  • Stiches in Time will present a series of wall hangings titled “Food From the Docks”. Each hanging was made by parents at Mayflower School and Wigram House Women’s Group.
  • A selection of photographs by Sir Colin Hampden-White from the Facing East project will be showcased. A project generously funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund.
  • A large scale mixed media painting collaborations will be installed in the Church.

The festival will take place on Thursday 15th October, 4.00-10.00pm at the Bromley by Bow

Tickets for the concert are £6. To reserve your tickets please email watercityartsfestival@googlemail.com with your name and the number of tickets required.

All other sessions and exhibitions are FREE. Don’t miss out on this fantastic event.
