Make Your Mark on the Lea River Park

2 November 2009

Throughout the year there have been many exciting events taking place at the Centre and the surrounding areas to develop ideas for the new Lea River Park. This exciting new green space, funded and managed by the London Thames Gateway Development Corporation, will run from the Thames in the south to Hertfordshire in the north.

Phase one of the development, to be completed by 2012, will include an important visitor attraction at East India Dock Basin, with information on the history and wildlife of the area and a park at Three Mills Green in Stratford, with event space and recreational areas with sports and play facilities. Additionally ‘The Fatwalk’, a riverside parkland route connecting the River Thames and the Olympic Park, will provide a fantastic green resource for everyone.

Those who are interested in helping to shape ideas and designs for the park can do so by registering and completing the online questionnaire. Maybe you enjoy having a picnic with your family, taking a ride on your bike, bird-watching or running outside? You can help shape your new park and make sure it’s right for you and your community.

Visit http://www.leariverpark.org for more information, a downloadable questionnaire about the park, and an events calendar for all future events.
