Festive fun in Bromley by Bow

Party-goer with Santa's elf 22 December 2009

Sleigh bells have been ringing loud and clear in Bromley by Bow this festive season. Last week the Centre's Working Wonders Programme, Teenage Parents Project and Undercover Gardeners ended the year with their very own Christmas parties.

Santa with his young fanThe Centre's Teenage Parents Programme was the first to get the celebration underway last Wednesday. The party was held at Olga Children's Centre off Roman Road. Young parents and their children enjoyed an afternoon of food, music and entertainment. The most popular attraction of the day however was certainly Santa's Grotto. Santa made time to meet all his young fans and distribute his mountain of presents, one young party-goer even came dressed as his number one hero.

Working Wonders members continued the yule time spirit the next day when they held their infamous Christmas party. Cate McKenzie, the Working Wonders Dance Therapist got the party well and truely started with some lively music, that got everybody moving and grooving.  Santa had another engagment but luckily Mrs Claus was able to drop by and give out presents. Guests at the party included members from all the Working Wonders projects such as Horticulture Therapy members, Elders form Young @ Art and other Working Wonders projects for vulnerable adults.

No sooner had the Working Wonders party finished when the young gardeners from the Undercover Gardeners project started their party. Around 35 children aged between 8 and 13 sat down for a very special Christmas meal and then attempted to burn off the energy with a range of high energy party games. The Working Wonders and Teenage Parents Christmas parties were made possible thanks to a generous donation and two teams of enthusiastic volunteers from Rothschild Bank. The volunteers worked hard to serve food, decorate venues and ensure that the event went smoothly, they even bought presents to fill Mr and Mrs Claus sacks with.

We would like to thank Rothschild Bank for their support
