Runners complete the Brighton Marathon and raise more than £20,400!

On Sunday 18th April a team of brave and strong minded (if not a little crazy) runners took on the ultimate challenge of running 26.2 miles in aid of the Bromley by Bow Centre.
The warm weather made a great day for spectating but a really tough day to run. The determination and spirit shown by our runners was inspiring. The runners were helped along by the cheers of friend, family and staff and volunteers from the Centre who now have renewed admiration for the impressive physical and mental endurance that our runner displayed on the big day!
Despite the blisters, aches and pains the runners have all spoken of their incredible sense of achievement and how much they enjoyed the day. Some are even already signed up for next year.
Our runners have not only been training hard in preparation but have been enthusing their friends and family about the Centre’s work and raising valuable funds to support our work. They have raised in excess of £20,400, which will help transform the lives of people living in East London. We would like a say a massive thank you for all their hard work and commitment. Many of our runners work for our partner companies G4S and Rothschild who generously supported their fundraising.
In order to secure our Brighton Marathon places we had to provide the event organisers with volunteer marshals for the day that had to content with a 5.00am start on their Sunday. Despite the early start and demanding day they kept smiling. Thank you to our cheerful volunteers!
