Young people living in Bromley by Bow have led a project to create a lively magazine that looks at how young people and adults in their community see one another.
The group (aged between 13 and 19 years) conducted a series of interviews in the community to look at the stereotypes we hold and find ways of improving relationships. The finsihed product is the Dot 2 Dot magazine which is getting a fantastic response from local people.
The magazine went through lots of changes and stages with many creative ideas emerging. During the project the young people interviewed The Elders Group who meet at The Marner Centre, the Bow Safer Neighbourhood Team and several adults and parents from around the local area. The young people took their views and opinions and used them to help make the Dot to Dot magazine.
Young people from the project are keen artists and used spray paint and stencils to create pictures before developing the artwork with computers. They enlisted the support of Rick Levine, The Invisible Man, as their design expert and he helped guide the young people in their first ever young people lead project.
Well done to all the young people involved!
