Creating spaces to inspire

29 July 2010

We were excited to unveil outline plans for our new building project at this year's Summer Fair. Local people were eager to see the scaled models and pictures of what the new building would look like and share their ideas of how to create new spaces to inspire.

The Bromley by Bow Centre has reached its capacity with regards to physical space in which to deliver activities. Thanks to a generous feasibility grant from Community Builders we are working with architects Wyatt MacLaren and Leaside Regeneration to draw up some detailed plans.

The stall at the Summer Fair served as a great opportunity for local people to share their ideas about the outline plans. We were excited to receive drawings from local children. Many people commented that they like the feel of the Bromley by Bow Centre, particularly the fact that the buildings aren’t uniform and have a friendly, homely feeling. They wanted the character of the Centre to stay the same.

The building project stand was one of many at the Summer Fair. Families enjoyed the entertainment ranging from a bouncey castle, local rock bands to a petting zoo courtesy of our friends at Stepping Stones City Farm.

Thank you to everyone that attended and for making the 2010 Summer Fair such a success.

You can see some of the children's pictures at the Wyatt MacLaren Website

More opportunities to share your ideas and comments about our new buildings are planned for August at the Bromley by Bow Centre. Please contact Layla Hazeldon laylah@bbbc.org.uk for further details about how to get involved.
