Bromley by Bow Centre runners join Olympians at the start line

30 July 2012

On a rainy Sunday morning in July a team of nine determined Bromley by Bow Centre runners embarked on the UK's third largest running event to raise money to transform the lives of families living in East London.

Our Bromley by Bow Centre runners took to the start line of the British 10k Run on the 8th July 2012 alongside Olympians Katharine Merry, Graham Bell and Anna Hemming MBE ready to follow a course past some of London's most iconic landmarks. The route passed through Pall Mall, Trafalgar Square, St Paul's Cathedral and over Westminster Bridge with Big Ben forming the backdrop to the final stretch.

We would like to thank our runners for raising over £2,000 in sponsorship for the Centre and for their enthusiasm on race day despite the rain. This support is invaluable for enabling the Centre to continue to support the local community.

"It was a really great day and I had loads of fun! I was very chuffed with the time that I achieved. We were delighted with the amount we managed to raise for the Bromley by Bow Centre and it's lovely knowing exactly where the money will be going." Kitty, British 10k Run 2012

Our running heroes are, in no particular order; David, Ricardo, Peter, Kitty, Darren, Alex, Susan, Rachel and Michael.

We have two places available in the Royal Parks Foundation Half Marathon on the 7th October 2012. You can join our Half Marathon team as they run 13.1miles through four of London's beautiful Royal Parks and past the Capital's iconic landmarks this autumn. But hurry registration closes on the 10th August 2012.
