From the 17th of May Providence Row will be hosting recovery drop in sessions at the Bromley by Bow Centre. The recovery Drop-in provides a supportive space to discuss drug and alcohol concerns in confidentiality.

Each week different recovery topics are used to prompt discussion. Clients are then asked if they would like to share their own personal recovery experiences. This provides support through shared experience and breaks down the sense of isolation so often felt by those struggling with substance misuse. No-one is forced to share if they don't feel comfortable to do so. Theoretical knowledge is then provided by the facilitator, whilst worksheets are used to encourage client-reflection and build recovery plans. Information about wider support beyond the group is also offered to empower clients in their onward recovery.

Recovery topics include:

  • Thoughts, feelings and substance misuse
  • Triggers
  • Relapse prevention
  • Coping mechanisms
  • The stages of change
  • Relationships
  • Activities to do instead of drugs or alcohol
