The Bow Chilcare mural seen from the streetBarclays Capital is the investment banking division of Barclays Bank PLC, based in nearby Canary Wharf. They are actively involved in providing support, help and commitment to the communities in which the bank works. The firm focuses its support on key social issues where it can make the greatest possible difference, using expertise and resources and the time and skills of Barclays' people.

Barclays Capital are enabling disadvantaged young people to develop their skills and grow personally, and helping to transform the visual landscape of Tower Hamlets, through their support for Signs of Life, a social enterprise at the Bromley by Bow Centre. Signs of Life work with disadvantaged young people to regenerate their lives and the environment through the use of arts and education.

Barclays Capital has supported two projects:

  • Expanding Horizons – this project is enabling local young people to participate in workshops, museum trips and outings as well as an extraordinary, life-changing exchange with Funarte, an arts project in Nicaragua.
  • Nurturing the Nursery – this project has created a brilliant mural for Bow Childcare, a local, partner nursery for under 5s.
