Our Employment Service works with hundreds of people each year, helping them every step of the way towards getting into work. The free, confidential and impartial advice is delivered by qualified and experienced staff and includes:

  • Careers advice
  • Practical assessments to identify individual needs and requirements
  • Individual action plans and goal setting
  • Help with CV writing, application forms, interview skills and techniques
  • Motivation, support and encouragement .

The team has access to the latest vacancies and will help to guide local people through the job search process. We also operate an employer liaison programme, working with employers to offer work experience and volunteer placements alongside permanent positions. We focus particularly on the long-term unemployed or those who have never had a job, easing the transition into work.

We will discuss your goals and ambitions and work with you to develop a manageable action plan to help you achieve them. These actions may include:

  • Specialist workshops for vocational learners covering CV writing, interview techniques, completing application forms
  • An individual employment broker to help you find relevant work to match your expectations
  • Building relationships with local employers to help you back into the workplace.

Our clients include young people, older people, single parents, long term unemployed or those returning to the job market after an extended period out of work and those looking for a change from their current career path. Our client group represents a wide pool of ethnic backgrounds with a range of different skills, so we are ideally placed and have the knowledge and experience to assist regardless of the barriers or issues that you may face.

The team works closely with the Welfare and Benefits team at the Centre as well as our other services such as Learning and the Children's Centre.
