The Bromley by Bow Centre Health Centre is more than just a place to get a prescription for medication from a doctor - it's a healthy living centre, with a holistic approach to helping people towards a healthier lifestyle. When it opened in 1997, it demonstrated a new way of providing healthcare in the community.
The GP practice currently has 5,400 registered patients and the list is open to new patients living in the local area.
The Health Centre provides an integrated range of high quality services that promote health and wellbeing. There is a comprehensive range of primary care services offered on site by the dedicated team of professionals including our GPs, practice nurses, health visitors, district nurses and backed up by the practice support staff and administrators.
This work is further supported by additional projects based within the Bromley by Bow Centre including the Children's Centre, the teenage parent support project and the health trainers programme.
There are also strong links with the social care programmes of the Centre which are operated by Working Wonders. Increasingly our work around welfare, benefits and ESOL provision has a strong health focus and links closely with the activities of the surgery.
That’s why our reception area provides access into a diverse range of opportunities: from access to welfare to the opportunity to set up a social enterprise; from referral into a gardening project to support in writing your CV; from directly accessing your housing officer to accessing one of our numerous courses which help people to learn new skills and gain qualifications.
There are also Poplar HARCA's housing services for local residents. There are also a number of activities which happen in the health centre waiting room including the Child Health clinic on a Wednesday and the Young @ Art elders group on a Wednesday.
The health centre offers extended hours services and full details can be accessed through the practice website.
