Lloyd’s is the world’s leading specialist insurance market, conducting business in over 200 countries and territories worldwide – and is often the first to insure new, unusual or complex risks. For over 50 years the Lloyd’s Charities Trust has been providing charitable support to a wide range of local, national and international charities on behalf of the Lloyd’s market.
From 2010 the Lloyd's Charities Trust has made a commitment to making a great city greater and in doing so tackling disadvantage and fostering opportunity here in London. To meet this commitment Lloyd's Charities Trust has set up Brighter Futures for Londoners, the Trust's flagship project - a partnership with Bromley by Bow Centre and the Prince's Trust. Over the next three years, Lloyd’s Charities Trust will be supporting our Success for Life project, to help unemployed people to break the cycle of poverty by moving into sustainable employment and improving the prospects for all their family.
The Lloyd's Charities Trust will enable 90 unemployed people in one of the UK’s most deprived areas to break the cycle of poverty through moving into sustainable employment; build the skills of 90 more; and enable over 400 family members to benefit from increased family income. Families will benefit across the whole of their lives, through improved health and wellbeing, stronger relationships and greater confidence and aspirations for generations to come.
Success for Life is delivering a personalised, holistic programme of activities to support parents on their journey into work, through offering ‘IT for Employment’ courses, employability workshops, life coaching, work placements, trips and 1-2-1 employment advice. This unique project enables the Centre to commit to support parents for the long-term, enabling them to overcome complex hurdles to work, which may include skills deficits, lack of personal networks, benefits-related poverty traps, language barriers, health problems, family commitments and debt.
In the New Year the Centre looks forward to working with Lloyd's employees to provide interview coaching and CV clinics for clients.
“In the run up to 2012 and beyond, Brighter Futures for Londoners will be helping hundreds of people to make a fresh start and seize the opportunities which this great city has to offer.” Richard Ward, Chief Executive, Lloyd’s
“We are delighted to be partnering together on a programme that will break the pattern of worklessness and create a better life for children and their families here in our city.” Rob Trimble, Chief Executive, Bromley by Bow Centre
