Malmesbury Estate: Design and Build Play Pathfinder

 Malmesbury view

Consultation, design and build project using all the elements of natural, inclusive play.

Disabled children are able to use the wide slide with a carer or friend, easily accessed by mounding.

All age groups share the space. An element of risk is evident with standing and sharing a swing. The same swing can be shared seated by a disabled child. A basket swing is also on the site.

Smooth rocks are good for non-prescriptive play, doubling as seating and creating zoned areas.

MATTA surfacing (95% recycled rubber)

 malmesbury build

The Green Dreams build team onsite clearing and laying the wide accessible pathway into the play area.

With this inhouse build expertise, our designers know their plans are realistic on the ground.

 malmesbury resident planting

A community planting day in which local young people get involved in installing the space.

Such activities encourage a sense of local ownership and are designed to introduce green estate initiatives such as gardening clubs.

Unusual, challenging play structures give local children something exciting to tackle.

The natural wood stage structure in front encourages non-prescriptive play.

 Malmesbury Celebration

An event hosted to bring the community together in celebrating the new space.

Here, kids in fancy dress use a new mounding and log structure as a platform for socialising and performing.
