Sheenagh McKinlay
Sheenagh McKinlay is a resident artist at Bromley by Bow Centre and runs her stained glass business from her studio at the Centre. Sheenagh is a stained glass maker working with salvaged painted glass shards. She also runs workshops with different community groups at the Centre. The composite panels she has made to date are not planned but emerge from the relationships the shards form when brought together and reconfigured about on the light box.
In Sheenagh’s own words:
'The image is arrived at in an instinctive and almost subconscious manner, the image becoming clear to me as I move the shards about in relation to each other until I ‘recognize’ them. This is in complete contrast to my commissioned work which is extremely controlled, design led and planned down to every possible nuance of symbol and meaning inherent in every aspect of colour and line.'
