Skills for Life courses at the Bromley by Bow Centre provide opportunities for residents many of whom left school at a young age with little or no qualifications. We help people to get the support they need to start learning again. By taking part in a class people develop confidence and the capacity to take the next steps to a better life for themselves and their families.
Classes take place in the supportive environment of the Bromley by Bow Centre. Where possible, additional support is offered such as childcare support or welfare advice. Many learners come to us by word-of-mouth, and say that they would not join classes if they took place elsewhere.
Available courses include:
- Sewing, cookery, pottery, IT, Mural painting...
- Family learning courses
- English (ESOL), Literacy, Numeracy
The Centre has developed a fantastic reputation for its work integrating English language learning with health promotion. Two examples of this work are the ESOL Health and Humour project and Deciding for Ourselves.
