On Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th September, from 10am – 6pm our local resident artists will open their studios at the Centre for the annual showcase of their work for visitors and their families to enjoy.

Pieces include stone-carving statues by Paula Haughney and and ceramics by Murude Mehmet.

Visitors can talk to the artists to learn about materials and techniques used and see the studios where they create their art works.  There will be items available for purchase too; ideal for a special Christmas gift.

Just pop in to the Centre for a warm welcome during these times. The studios can be easily accessed from our Bruce Road entrance.

There is also a private viewing on Friday evening 2nd December 5pm – 8pm, when Paula and Murude will be joined by local ceramic artist John Crabb.  Please contact if you’d like to attend this viewing Murude.Mehmet@bbbc.org.uk

Murude Mehmet

Ceramicist, teacher, maker and community artist

“I love to create! Especially with clay, my emotional connection with the raw material provokes excitement to produce something beautiful. I use luscious glazes by layering and firing many times; the colour glazes bleed and entwine creating a picture of nature, the sky, planets and the universe”

Paula Haughney

Stone sculptor

“I enjoy the physicality of carving stone. Doing the research and designing something site specific for people to enjoy, gives me a sense of purpose.”
