We are pleased to announce the expansion of energy advice services at the Bromley by Bow Centre by the addition of a pre-payment fuel voucher scheme.
This new service means that extra support is now available during the Autumn period for people in vulnerable situations who use pre-payment meters for gas and electricity supplies.
Many more people are struggling to sustain adequate energy supplies during the Covid-19 outbreak. This new fuel voucher scheme has been devised to help alleviate the worry and to provide continuity of utility supplies for cooking, hot water, lighting and heating.
Funding for this new voucher support has been awarded to our community by the Energy Industry Voluntary Redress Scheme, COVID-19 Crisis Fund managed by the Energy Saving Trust. This new scheme expands our energy advice services which have been generously supported by British Gas Energy Trust for over 10 years.
Our services support people with free, impartial and confidential advice for those finding it difficult to pay gas, electricity or water bills, keep homes warm, stay on top of bills and we can often help people save money. Problems with keeping pre-payment meters topped up have worsened during the coronavirus pandemic because of reduced income in many households. Issues are often exacerbated by increased fuel use for people shielding or those unable to access top up vouchers because they are housebound due to illness or disability.
This new voucher scheme is available for residents of Tower Hamlets and neighbouring boroughs and applications must be made before 23rd November, 2020.
