The Bromley by Bow Centre Community Fridge helps cut food waste, build stronger bonds within the community and redistributes good quality food to those who need it most. We are looking for volunteers to help us set up and run the Community Fridge as part of a growing network of fridges across the UK.
EastXchange celebrated three years of the project last month, by hosting a “Thank you” event for our members at the Raddison Blu in Canary Wharf. EastXchange is a timebanking project, where local residents and patients share skills with each other to help tackle issues of social isolation and eradicate loneliness.
Fun Palaces celebrate community at the heart of culture, and culture at the heart of community. They are local events that happen all over the world, on the same weekend, bringing together arts, craft, science and sports activities. Led by local people, for local people, Fun Palaces are all about sharing individual passions and skills.
Bromley by Bow Centre Trustee, Simon Bevan is taking on an extreme challenge to fundraise on behalf of the Centre: he will be running 200 kilometres in hostile conditions on the African Island nation of San Tome which is closest to the equator.
Back in 2015, the Bromley by Bow Centre partnered with Macmillan Cancer Support to pilot the delivery of community based holistic cancer support. This pilot is now drawing to a close, we are excited to share our new evaluation of the service to ensure future services are designed to best support people affected by cancer.
The Bromley by Bow Centre held a special event to mark today’s Professional Care Workers Day. It was held to celebrate and say thank you to the Centre’s social care team and to previous members of staff who were invited to attend.
