We are now recruiting a group of 12 enthusiastic people to become part of a Community Advisory Board at Bromley by Bow Health. This group will represent the crucial voice of patients in the work we do. They will help us find a new way of working together; taking all life factors into account.
The Bromley by Bow integrated community method is continuing to pioneer new approaches to health. We know first-hand the importance of a community that is connected and people who support each other to be well and healthy. We also know how crucial community support is during the time of a coronavirus pandemic.
Research shows that over 70% of health outcomes are not due to medical-related issues at all. The majority of health issues are linked to social and environmental factors like home, money, work, family, connection, self-care and having sense of purpose in life. Our experience tells us that health needs addressing in a more holistic way, taking everything into account.
Bromley by Bow is an organisation that is unique in the way it delivers health and has always offered much more than medical support. We know our community comprises many people who are creative, innovative and resilient and know the local area well.
Board Members will work alongside the organisation, helping to identify areas that need improvement. They will be able to guide our decision making and make change happen in many ways including how we use information, our governance and how to support local people to feel more in control of their health and wellbeing.
We are running a Q&A session via zoom on: Wednesday 11th November, 11am-12pm. Please contact Lutfa Begum on 07415 035950 or email Lutfa.begum1@nhs.net if you have any questions.
