Social care gets creative

Our longest running day service for people with disabilities and learning difficulties is creatively adapting its remote support.

Our Social Care team is working tirelessly support those with disabilities through regular phone contact with clients and carers and by designing and delivering home-based activities.

These activities include amazing work by our resident artist Frank Creber and volunteers. They have rapidly created and constructed over 40 home outreach craft and activity packs to keep Social Care members busy while at home and not missing each other too much.

Outreach craft and activity packs

The packs include things to do and colour in and small mosaic and fabric projects that were left half-finished when the workspace at the Centre had to temporarily close down.

Some of the activities involve self-portraits and tasks that encourage members to say how they’re doing and what they look forward to most when they return to their regular social care sessions at the Centre.

Members and their carers are also being encouraged to photograph their works and send them back to the team.  Results will then be shared with all members to help them feel more connected during the lockdown period.
