On Tuesday 21st January, the Bromley by Bow Centre put on a very special pop-up pantomime for members of our community.
Christmas season has passed but it is still chilly outside so the Centre held a pop-up pantomime for the community. The event was hosted and managed by Mandy, the Centre’s engagement lead who explained the reason for the show:
“The post-Christmas period is known for dark days and a shortage of spending money so this free event was put on to encourage people to come out, connect and enjoy themselves.”
Well over 100 adults and children came to watch Cinderella, performed by M and M Productions, a touring panto company.
Many attendees had never been to a panto before. One said:
“It was a fabulous, life-affirming experience. I haven’t had so much fun in ages. The Centre never fails to inspire me with the events and sessions it puts on for the community.”
Words used on attendees feedback forms for the day include “awesome, brilliant, genius, magical, wonderful” so we got the impression a good time was had by all!
Some had not engaged with the Centre for a while and were clearly delighted to be back. One person said the event was amazing, “because I’m back with my BBBC family”.
This production was kindly supported by The Royal Pharmaceutical Society who are already looking forward to supporting us with another panto next year.
