Raising money for our cancer social prescribing service
On June 9th, our Executive Director Catherine Tollington, and Kate Coules in the Employment and Skills team, paddled 30 kilometres in the annual Vogalonga race in Venice as part of a Dragon Boat Team, The Wave Walkers.
The Wave Walkers team was established for people living with and beyond cancer, and their supporters. Catherine and Kate used this opportunity to raise funds for the Bromley by Bow Centre, specifically for our Cancer Social Prescribing Service, which in the last four years has referred 2,147 people to over 400 different services across four boroughs.
Cancer affects everyone differently and our service allows people to explore their practical needs such as financial requirements and employment support as well as their personal goals, with a professional, supportive person based in the community.
The service also supports people to participate in a range of different physical and social activities that positively contribute to coping with cancer.
Catherine and Kate raised £4,450 (including gift aid) for the service, as they battled against 2000 other boats in the 45th year of this amazing event.
35 years, 350 days, let’s raise £350,000
We’d like to thank Catherine and Kate for helping us on our way to our ambitious goal. This is the Bromley by Bow Centre’s 35th anniversary year and we want to raise £350,000 in 350 days so that we can continue to support people for the next 35 years.
If you’d like to contribute to our goal, please donate.
