We are thrilled to announce that Bromley by Bow Centre is partnering with NASP and World Health Organisation to become an international visit site for social prescribing as part of the Global Social Prescribing Alliance.

Dr Bogdan Chiva Giurca, lead of the Global Social Prescribing Alliance, commented, “It gives us great pleasure to be joining with one of the earliest pioneers and leaders in social prescribing to offer site visits to partners from across the world. This partnership will not only allow us to learn from the successes of Bromley by Bow Centre and its skilled team, but also to collaborate and share best practice with international organisations.”

Founded in 2021, the Global Social Prescribing Alliance is a world-wide initiative that aims to support the development and growth of social prescribing on a global scale. With support from the World Health Organisation, UK National Academy for Social Prescribing, members from multiple organisations and international partners from over 25 countries, the alliance is working to spread and scale-up social prescribing globally and link this to the implementation of some of the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals

As the CEO of Bromley by Bow Centre, Elly de Decker (pictured) said, “Sharing our learning and learning from others is part of the Centre’s ethos. We are proud to share our experiences and best practices with partners from around the world as an international site for the Global Social Prescribing Alliance. We believe that through collaboration, we can continue to promote social prescribing as an effective route to improving health and well-being on a global scale.  At the same time, we hope to highlight the vital importance of sustainable funding for the community services that underpin the social prescribing approach”

Dr Isabelle Wachsmuth, Arts for Health Lead, World Health Organisation, commented,

“We look forward to welcoming many more international associates to East London and to working together to promote social prescribing, as a means of improving the health and well-being of communities globally, sharing the benefits and the learning from the integrated approach of the Bromley by Bow Centre”

The Bromley by Bow Centre is a founding member of the National Social Prescribing Network and is a Social Prescribing Regional Facilitator for London, both for NHS England and Healthy London Partnership.
